London Recruits film at the Orbit cinema in Wellington at 2.30pm on Saturday 5th April. Tickets (price £10) are available from the cinema here: https://wellingtonorbit.co.uk/film/950/london-recruits

There will be a Q&A after the film with the director, Gordon Main, and two of the surviving London Recruits: Steve Marsling and Sean Hosey , who was arrested and served five years in a South African prison – both are portrayed in the film by actors.

It’s a great story of how young left-wingers who hated apartheid agreed to go to South Africa to help the African National Congress – something they kept secret for decades afterwards.

It shows how small acts of solidarity contributed to the downfall of apartheid – and the lesson is obvious for struggles today.

Wellington is easy to get to by car or by train – services run from Wellington to Shrewsbury and to Telford.

This will be the first showing of the film anywhere in the West Midlands.
